Microinverter used for an AC coupled system. Converts DC power to AC power directly on the roof.

One of the biggest things to consider when installing solar is whether you want a backup battery system or not. In the presence of a battery, we install what's known as a DC-coupled system. With this system, you will be able to run off battery power during an outage and during the night when the sun is down. Batteries allow for peak shaving, to provide further savings. Peak Shaving is the process of charging your batteries when electricity prices are at their lowest or with solar. Then pulling from your battery power during the time of day when utility prices are at their highest. A DC-coupled system consists of the Sol-Ark inverter, a fortress Lithium Iron Phosphate battery, and Tigo optimizers.

In the case of no battery backup, an AP microinverter is used. The microinverter converts to DC power produced by your panels into AC power for your house to use, directly on the roof. This style system is more affordable than a system with a battery. Net Metering is still possible with this system. However, without a battery, you will not have power during an outage or pull from your battery at night.
